Relieving Chiropractic Care Relief of Vancouver Leg Pain Right or Left

Right leg. Left leg. Sciatica (aka leg pain) will affect either leg (and sometimes both). Vancouver chiropractic care at Vancouver Spine Care Centre helps alleviate leg pain and addresses the spinal source of the sciatica at the same time. Vancouver Spine Care Centre guides Vancouver leg pain and back pain patients to pain relief with chiropractic care.

SCIATIC LEG PAIN: Right Leg or Left Leg

You’ve heard of right-handed people and left-handed people, right? Of course, you have! Did you know that the left leg grows longer in right-handed people and the right leg grows longer in left-handed people? Not 100% of the time, but research has it documented in pretty high percentages. Bearing this in mind, it is not surprising that more people have longer left legs (53%) than right legs (39%). Incredibly, just 8% of people have equal leg lengths. (1) What role does that play in which leg will have sciatica? Discs will bulge into the concavity of the curve due to a variety of issues like uneven stresses on the disc’s anulus. The concavity of the spinal curve is on the long leg side. A right-handed person with a long left leg will likely have leg pain on the left side. Another curious point: hip pain often occurs on the long leg side, too: 88.9% long leg vs 11.1% short leg. Sciatica, too: 78.5% occurs on the long leg side vs 21.5% on the short leg side. (2,3) Your Vancouver chiropractor can spot a short leg pretty easily by checking three things: iliac crest, the verticality of the spine, and levelness of the posterosuperior iliac spine dimples. Researchers wrote that there is a strong relationship between visual and xray measurements. (4) Trust your Vancouver chiropractor to find a short leg…and address any related disc herniation sources of pain!

DISC HERNIATION RE-ABSORPTION WITH NON-SURGICAL CARE

A new study studied 75 cases of ruptured lumbar disc herniation. Forty-six of the 75 cases had radiating leg pain: 46 cases on the left and 29 on the right. (Makes sense now, right?) At 5 years post- non-surgical treatment, a “reabsorption” phenomenon was found. The excellent and good rate of disc reabsorption was 73.24%. (5) Vancouver Spine Care Centre delivers pain easing non-surgical care of Vancouver leg pain and back pain.

RELIEF FOR Vancouver LEG PAIN and BACK PAIN

And then remember the recent paper regarding the benefits of chiropractic maintenance care: Maintenance care decreases the number of painful days for acute back pain episodes and raises the length of pain-free periods between back pain episodes in patients with recurrent and persistent back pain. (6) Vancouver Spine Care Centre is here for those back pain and leg pain patients wanting fewer days with back and leg pain and those who would like to live life with longer periods without leg and back pain.
